About VMR

VMR Mornington

Mornington Community Bay Rescue Service, (now operating as VMR Mornington, Volunteer Marine Rescue inc), was formed in May 1980 when a boating accident within site of land could not be attended due to the lack of a local ready action unit.
VMR are located in Mornington and Hastings. It has the motto of  “To serve our community in the protection of life at sea” . We assist and rescue any person who gets into difficulties in or on the waters of Port Phillip and Westernport with particular emphasis on those waters adjacent to the Mornington Peninsula Shire.

When our rescue service was formed in 1980, the Steering Committee was tasked with the job of investigating the best type of vessel and the best manufacturer in Australia. The Committee reported back that they would highly recommend the Shark Cat company, later to become Noosa Cat.

Today VMR still boasts 2 state of the art Noosa Cats and one Kirby Marine vessel. With over 42 years’ experience in marine rescue, VMR still believe Noosa Cat to be the best multi hull vessel available for the type of work we do.
Our current fleet of vessels is valued well over $1,800,000
